World Cup 2022: England players to pocket £500k each if

England (opens in new tab)’s players are each set to receive a £500,000 bonus from the FA if they can end 56 years of hurt by securing World Cup glory in Qatar.

Manager Gareth Southgate is also said to be in line for a £3m bonus should he take the Three Lions all the way this winter – having guided them to the World Cup semi-finals four years ago, and the final of Euro 2020 last year.

According to MailOnline (opens in new tab), the 2022 bonus pot is almost twice the size of that on offer at Russia 2018, totally roughly £13m.

Such a huge financial incentive puts England on a par with fellow major nations at the tournament.

And that’s before we even get onto the sizeable bonuses players could pick up from their various personal commercial partners.

Southgate and co. begin their quest for global success on Monday afternoon, with their opener against Iran in Group B – where they’re also joined by Wales and the USA.
