The best left-backs to sign on Football Manager 2023
Full-backs are increasingly important in the modern game and you need to make sure you’ve got some reliable ones on Football Manager 2023.
When it comes to left-backs, there are some excellent players available for good prices this year, with one deal in particular standing out from the rest. Stay tuned.
Here are the best left-backs to sign on FM23 on any budget.
Faouzi Ghoulam
Free Agent
Let’s start this off nice and simple. If you’ve only got a small budget to work with, don’t even hesitate to dip into the free agent market to pick up Ghoulam. He’s undoubtedly the best player you’ll find without breaking the bank.
Tono
Free Agent
Failing that, Spanish veteran Tono is an excellent alternative to Ghoulam.
Mikel Balenziaga
A. Bilbao
He may be 34, but Balenziaga is still a servicable option on the left. He’ll cost you £2.7m which, for a player of his calibre, isn’t bad at all.
Johan Mojica
Villarreal
A few years younger than Balenziaga, you’ll have to pay £4.7m to take Mojica out of Villarreal.
Eugenio Mena
Racing Club
Veteran Mena is a nice mix of 13s and 14s on his stats page and can be picked up for as little as £300,000.

Adria Pedrosa
Espanyol
Ghoulam is the guy at this price point, but if you’re looking for something a little different, Espanyol’s Pedrosa could be your guy. What sets him apart from the rest in his nice potential, meaning the 24-year-old could actually grow into a top-tier player pretty quickly. A smart risk for £3.1m.
Niko Giesselmann
Union Berlin
For £3.3m, you can pick up Giesselmann, who is one of very few options at this price point who could hold their own in a top division.
Mihailo Ristic
Benfica
Ristic brings 16 crossing to the table and could be a valuable weapon for a smaller side at £2.1m.
William Tesillo
Leon
Comfortable both on the left and in the centre of defence, Tesillo actually brings some really nice stats for his £1.5m price tag.
Zaidu Sanusi
Porto
£2.1m is a surprisingly good price for Sanusi, who is only 25 years old and on a long-term contract.
Alex Grimaldo
Benfica
Grimaldo’s expiring contract means he’s available for as little as £12.5m, which is a fantastic price for somebody of his quality.
Adam Marusic
Lazio
Marusic might be a right-back by trade but he’s just as comfortable on the left. His £14m price tag shouldn’t scare you off at all.
Alex Sandro
Juventus
Sandro’s wage demands are massive but he’s still a top player who is well worth his £11m asking price.
Fran Garcia
Vallecano
22-year-old Garcia might not be a top option just yet but he comes with some really nice potential and can be picked up for just £8.5m thanks to his release clause.
Alex Moreno
Real Hispalis
£6m for Moreno is a steal. He’s an excellent full-back on low wages, so whether you want him as a starter or a backup, you shouldn’t hesitate.

Javi Galan
Vigo
Left-back deals don’t come better than £11.5m for Galan. The 27-year-old is flirting with elite status but comes with such an affordable price tag. There are better players available but not represent this sort of value for money.
Caio Henrique
Monaco
Taking a gamble on Henrique’s potential will cost you £11.5m, which is a little steep but something to consider.
Jonas Hector
Koln
At 32, Hector is a nice defend-first option for left-back. His £5.75m is affordable but you’ll need a decent wage budget to bring him in.
Cristiano Biraghi
Fiorentina
17 crossing for Biraghi, who can play either as a full-back or a wing-back. He’s also a free-kick specialist and definitely worth a look at £12.5m.
Federico Dimarco
Inter
Another excellent deal is the £12.5m it would take to land Dimarco from Inter. With nice potential, the 24-year-old will soon be an elite talent.
Lucas Hernandez
Bayern
If you want to blow your budget on a left-back, Hernandez is a very nice option. He’s one of the best on the game and his £47.5m asking price isn’t exactly out of the question.
Jordi Alba
Barcelona
33-year-old Alba is the best full-back you’ll find without going completely crazy with your money. He’s available for £26m but obviously isn’t the most long-term option.
Juan Bernat
PSG
Bernat’s £13.25m fee is as good as you’ll find at this price point, but to be honest, you’re better off scrolling up and going in for Galan.
Alfonso Pedraza
Villarreal
£19m is about right for Pedraza. He’s a top player who could still get a little better.
Luke Shaw
Man UFC
You can lure Shaw out of Manchester for £27m, which is actually a good price for someone of his current ability. Still, he’s no Galan.

Raphael Guerreiro
Borussia Dortmund
The best value for money at this price point comes with Guerreiro. Because of his expiring contract, you can land him for a nice price of £32.5m. That being said, his current ability is the same as Galan, who is £21m cheaper. You’ve been warned.
Nicolas Tagliafico
OL
Lyon took advantage of Tagliafico’s bargain status with Ajax and will now sell him to you for £24m. That’s not cheap, but it’s pretty fair.
Jose Gaya
Valencia
If you want a top, top left-back in your ranks, Gaya is your man. He’s a stand-out talent when it comes to current ability and his £44m asking price is a bit of a steal.
Marcos Acuna
Sevilla
If you can’t be bothered with negotiating, Acuna comes with a £39.5m release clause.
Ferland Mendy
R. Madrid
A real athlete with some excellent mental stats, Mendy can be yours for £44.5m (but don’t sign him and definitely sign Galan.)
